A Sunny Sunday in Seattle

Seattle is famous for been a dark, drizzly city. In the winter, we only see the sun about one day a week. But on the other hand, when it's sunny out-- a few months during the summer, mostly-- these people pack more fun stuff into a few short weeks than any other place this side of Carnival in Trinidad or Mardi Gras in New Orleans.

Right now we've just finished Seafair, a month-long, million-person party that's so active they have to hold parades on weekdays because all the weekend spots are taken; where pirates land on the beach and drive around town in amphbious vehicles (like the famous Moby Duck pictured at left), kidnapping citizens (all in fun, of course), and generally engaging in not-always-suitable-for-children behavior.

So is this a cool town to live in, or what?

But I don't have any pictures of Seafair besides this one (which I didn't even take myself, I got it off the web), so I'll have to talk about something else instead.
